Dan Bakker
Dr. Sara Barber is passionate about helping her clients maximize their potential: the potential of their business, their staff, and their livestock. She grew up on a diversified farm near Worthington, MN where she learned the value of hard work and determination. She received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 1996 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2000. Dr. Barber spent the next 18 years in private veterinary practice where her emphasis was on dairy, calf, and feedlot operations. She is driven to find the root cause of challenges and enjoys discovering solutions with the farm team. She is certified through the “PeopleFirst” Supervisory Certificate Program and “PeopleFirst” Focused Leadership Principles Program. In November 2018, Dr. Barber left mixed animal practice to start Foundation Livestock Service with Dan Bakker. Dr. Barber enjoys life with her husband, Bruce, and three children. They encourage each other at many sporting events and 4-H activities. She is energized by cross country skiing, flower gardening, a roaring campfire, and conversations with friends.
Dan Bakker is motivated to help animal agriculture producers maximize the efficiency of their animals, facilities, and employees. This is done by helping farms motivate and engage employees in creating a culture of continuous improvement, which results in a more profitable, sustainable business. Dan began his experience in agriculture working on his family’s farrowing operation. He then pursued various opportunities in agriculture, including feedlot, dairy, and facility construction. He spent 11 years as operations manager on a dairy farm as it grew from 500 to 1,200 cows. During this time Dan also desired to become a better leader. He became certified through the “People First” Supervisory Certificate Program and “Lift Leadership Training”. In 2016, he transitioned off farm as a Dairy Production Specialist for a private veterinary practice. In 2018, Dan left this veterinary practice for opportunity to be a consultant/coach at Foundation Livestock Service. Dan’s practical experience and passion to help farms maximize their potential drives him as he helps farms reach their goals. Dan enjoys being with his family, the outdoors and working on his own small acreage.
